Phase 1, Done: Now, Ukiah to Corte Madera

I think of these Rambles in phases: getting to the conference, the conference, and returning from the conference.

Phase 1 is now history. I’ve traveled over 1,200 miles, driving 25+ hours. I’ve listened to Educated on Audible Kindle, seen beautiful country and sad sights, reconnected with family and friends, and done a lot of transformative thinking.

Phase 2 starts today. I submitted that 2,500 word essay on Tuesday morning. For the next 3 mornings I’ll be polishing it with Cahill and my new friends. I hope to be stretched and challenged, inspired and motivated. I’m not sure I’ll have the time or the stamina to blog. If not, you’ll next hear from me on Day 1 of Phase 3.

Phase 3 is going to be equally great. I’ll leave Corte Madera on Sunday afternoon and visit Modesto, Snelling, Lake Don Pedro, Sonora, Sacramento or Reno (still deciding), Graeagle, and stop for two days at Dixie Valley Ranch near McArthur before heading home through Alturas, Burns, and Ontario.

Thank you for reading along with Ruby and me on these Rambles. Next!

I was raised in Northern California on a sheep ranch. I'm passionate about working landscapes – balancing the interests of agriculture, thriving rural communities, and healthy natural resources. My husband Richard – the Professor - is a teacher. We live in Idaho with our horses, dogs, and close-by daughter and her family. I'm taking a trip soon and have attempted to introduce readers to some important backstories that will be helpful to understand the context for my observations. To read them, go to Topics in the sidebar and select Rambles with Ruby.
