County furloughs

Good evening,

I’ve heard from a lot of you who ask if the Board of Supervisors will be on furlough next week along with the rest of the non-public safety Tuolumne County employees. Unfortunately, the press release about the furloughs did not mention the Board’s participation.

The answer is absolutely yes. The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors and each individual supervisor will be on unpaid furlough the week after Christmas to ease budget conditions. 🙂

Have a very Merry Christmas and we’ll see you next year!

I like going places: out West, west of the West, and all the way around the back of the globe to the East. I like to go by train, plane, automobile, horseback. Whatever. And I like writing about what I see, feel, hear, smell, and touch all along the way and once I get there.

  1. I have a long time political friend in Orange county who is a Supervisor. The last I heard in 1996 they were doing pretty well.. I guess a lot better now. I do know they don't work any harder are longer than Terry. What they make. Must be the cost of living down there?

Here is the annual compensation received by each member of the Orange County Board of Supervisors:

    Base salary: $126,560.80

    Benefits: $59,000

    Car ($600/month): $7,200

    OCTA stipend: $6,000

    Gas ($2.50/gallon, 617 gallons): $1,542.50

    BlackBerry: $400

    SUBTOTAL: $200,703.30

  2. Boy, Jim! Do you know how many Tuolumne County supervisors $201k a year would buy? Almost 5. 3!

And add the cost of staff for each Orange County supervisor (at least one OC supervisor has 17 people working for him!) and you are talking a pretty hefty amount budgeted to the Orange County Board.

See what a deal you are getting?! We do our own staff work, make about $38k a year, and take furloughs too! 🙂

Thanks for giving us a new perspective on things!

    1. It’s a great way to stay in closer contact, isn’t it? I especially like the feedback I am getting from you and others. I also have a Facebook page that you can do a search for once you sign in – a page for me as an individual and another for “Teri Murrison for Supervisor.” Facebook is turning into a pretty cool way to communicate, as well. Merry Christmas, Nanci! Thanks for all you do for this county and our economy!
